Kiani Yiu, M.A., LPC-MHSP (Temp)
Sometimes our sense of self becomes derailed by traumatic life events, depression, anxiety, abuse, career shifts, or other life-altering transitions. I am passionate about joining those who are seeking to discover or rebuild their sense of self in order to build a life they love. If you feel confused about who you are or what has happened to you, I would love to journey with you toward owning your own story through compassion and empowerment. It is my belief that you are resilient and possess the resources to create a meaningful life no matter where you are on the journey.
As a therapist, I believe in the healing power of empathy and aim to look out of your "window" to see the world as you see it in order to determine a way forward together. When paired with practical skills, I believe our greatest work in therapy is achieved through offering empathy and compassion to parts of ourselves that we have often banished. Focusing on your history and story, I offer deep compassion and safe therapeutic companionship for individuals to uncover past beliefs and patterns in order to construct new ways of functional living and being.
I am interested in joining clients who are navigating cultural identity issues. I also have specialized training in trauma counseling, building shame resilience, and primarily incorporate psychodynamic, relational, and narrative therapies into my practice.
My goal as a therapist is to journey with clients toward self-exploration, self-compassion, and a greater sense of belonging in their bodies, minds, and in their chosen communities. I would be honored to enter this journey with you.
“I cannot heal what I will not name. I will not name what I’m unwilling to grieve. I will not grieve what I am unprepared to redeem.”
